Your questions on hypnosis answered

On this page you will find answers to the most frequently asked questions about hypnosis. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

How does hypnosis work?

Quite simply - by the fact that you have already made the decision that you want change. Nothing else can stand in your way. Through an induced relaxation, your subconscious mind becomes accessible and open to integrating the change you want. Scientifically, it is related to your brain waves. In hypnosis you are in the theta brain wave - a brainwave that has incredible changing effects. This brainwave exists between sleep and wakefulness or in meditation. At this level, lasting change is achieved because you have direct access to your subconscious mind - the part of you that is responsible for your feelings, reactions, behaviors and habits. If you have already tried to change things without involving your subconscious mind, it is most likely that it has only worked partially or in the short term. The great power of hypnosis is that your subconscious mind is able to let go of the old and integrate the new in this state.

What is the general process

First we talk on the phone so you can decide if the chemistry with me is right and we discuss what you want to work on. If you decide to go for hypnosis, we will then put the dates for the sessions in the calendar. In the first session, we capture in detail what you want to work on and define your goal. A clear picture from you of your goal in is key to your success. That's why it's important that you think about and write down notes about what you want to achieve before the first session. The sessions will build on what YOU want. Following this preparatory meeting, we will start with the first hypnosis session. The hypnosis can either take place in person in Hall in Tirol (near Innsbruck) or via Zoom. In the sessions we lay the ground for your goals, release subconscious blocks that have hindered you so far. Together we integrate the new images into your subconscious. Depending on the package, you will receive a personalized recording after the second session (both packages) and the third session (package 2). Each recording must be listened to for 21 days. The brain needs 3 weeks to fully integrate new patterns. Your commitment and motivation is a prerequisite here.

How do I know if I am hypnotizable?

Have you ever laughed or cried while watching TV? Then you are hypnotizable. When you are completely engrossed in a conversation, that is also a kind of hypnosis. Hypnosis is focus. Basically, anyone can go into hypnosis if they want to. We are all in hypnosis every day at some point, for example when you are driving a car without thinking about exactly what you are doing. This is a classic example of subconscious behaviour because it is so ingrained in your mind that you do it automatically. Many think that in hypnosis they are completely out of control and at the beck and call of the hypnotist. Or that they will do uncontrolled things such as eating an onion like an apple. This type of hypnosis does exist, but in my sessions we focus exclusively on your goals. Hypnosis only happens by you choosing to listen to my voice and following it. You have already consciously recognized the benefits hypnosis can have for you. Everyone who is motivated and willing to achieve their goal can be hypnotized.

What is the criteria for hypnosis to be successful

Where other methods fail, hypnosis succeeds. If you are open, ready to, try new things and consciously implement them, you are in the best place to achieve your goals. It is really important that you have the feeling that the chemistry between you and me fits - only then can you really open up for change. It is very important that you do your part - hypnosis does not work with a snap of the fingers but with personal commitment and the willingness to take back control of your mind. I will ask you to try things you haven't done before (e.g. imagine your future differently than before). It is also important that you speak German or English and you should be mentally and psychologically healthy. I do not perform hypnosis in the reserved areas of doctors, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists or other health professions or regulated trades. Ultimately, the key to success is closely linked to your self-motivation to implement your change. I provide the framework, enable you to let go of the old and integrate the new. Ultimately, however, you are the one who lives your new reality. Therefore, you must really want a change and be willing to invest in yourself.

What does hypnosis feel like?

Hypnosis is a natural, pleasant and above all relaxed state. Your body is relaxed, but your mind is awake. You can move, talk to me, or open your eyes at any time. You can even voluntarily come out of hypnosis yourself if you want to. You are always in complete control. This means that in this state you have control over your subconscious mind - the part that has until now been controlling you. As the body relaxes, the energy is concentrated in your mind, which actively works with you on getting your desired changes. Your conscious mind observes everything and also understands everything, taking it all in during hypnosis. This is very important because both subconscious and conscious mind work together for you to implement your new habits. In this state your inner voice tells you what it needs. This voice is often suppressed by us because we think we should act differently (head vs. gut feeling).

Will I lose control during hypnosis?

No. In fact, the opposite happens. Hypnosis is a chance for you to regain control. There is hardly any other situation where you are more in control of your mind than in hypnosis. You define what you want to change and therefore you automatically regulate what you allow into your mind. Your subconscious mind accepts only what you want to accept. You are able to get up, open your eyes or even get out of hypnosis at any time. Because every hypnosis is actually a self-hypnosis, you have complete control. You decide whether to close your eyes, follow my voice, and whether to actually allow the change in. As the hypnotist I cannot force anything, but I can do everything in my capabilities to support you in achieving your goals. This works just as well whether you do the hypnosis in person in Hall in Tirol or via Zoom with me.

Do I lose consciousness or fall asleep?

No. Hypnosis is neither a loss of consciousness nor sleep. Your body is deeply relaxed, but you are physically and mentally present. In fact, your conscious presence is highly important during the hypnosis. Your subconscious takes in the new patterns while your conscious is observing it all, taking it all in. This is key in the integration of your new habits. During the hypnosis sessions we will be talking to each other. Some people wonder if they are actually hypnotized if they are able to talk. Yes they are! You are able to speak at any time because your mind is focused and wide awake. In hypnosis, you speak your inner truth. Your subconscious mind tells you what it takes to make a successful change. At the same time, you don't speak anything you don't want to say.  You are in control of that too. Some things do not have to be said - everyone can decide for themselves in hypnosis.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?

No. Because you are in control in hypnosis, it is not possible to get stuck. There are types of of hypnosis where you can go into a very deep trance. Even then you are able to get out yourself at any time. Because hypnosis is very similar to a daydreaming state, it is comparable being deep in thought. You do not get stuck in thought either. It doesn't matter if the hypnosis session takes place personally with me in Hall Tirol or via Zoom, you can come out of trance at any time. Even if the online connection should be interrupted briefly: since you are in control at all times, it is no problem to open your eyes and dial back in. It might be that you want to drink something or go to the toilet. This is also possible. When the session is over, it will be clearly ended by me.

In which cases should I not be hypnotised?

Hypnosis does not fall within the scope of application of the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act, but in the case of independent practice falls under the so-called "new self-employed". It is essential for the professional practice of hypnosis that in any case it is not allowed to interfere with the reserved areas of physicians, clinical psychologists, psychotherapists or other health professions or regulated trades. This includes in particular any treatment of diseases, pathological disorders and psychological problems.

Please note that I cannot accept clients with seizure disorders such as epilepsy or people with severe heart problems. Also, if you suffer from severe mental disorders, I do not perform hypnosis. The same applies to people under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Caution is also advised for diabetics (in particular type I), but this will be explained in more detail in the preliminary conversation.

Your success is my priority!

I asked Lindsay to help me release the blocks that were holding me back for my future business success. I had the most amazing session with Lindsay. She helped me remove false beliefs and install new ones.
Now, a few months later, I have just started my own business. I am confident about the future and know with absolute certainty that I will be incredibly successful.

John D. (London)

Even in situations where I didn't think I could be relaxed, I am so much calmer and more at ease. Thank you so much, Lindsay. Your gentle, soothing voice and wise words worked their magic!

Emma B. (Bregenz)

Total trust and a feeling completely comfortable were the secrets of success in my hypnosis with Lindsay. Lindsay's technique was completely liberating. I feel so light and clear and happy after the sessions. And absolutely empowered to do things in a new way. For anyone considering using hypnosis with Lindsay, I would say go for it! Your life will improve immensely. Amazing. Thank you Lindsay!

Sabrina D. (Graz)

After the preliminary conversation, I just felt that Lindsay was the one I could trust with my sensitive issue. My husband and I have been together for over 20 years, but somehow - despite our mutual desires - I could not let go and let in as I wanted. The sessions and audio recording have had a tremendous impact on my life and our relationship. I am now much better at letting go and expressing myself in all areas of life. Big big thank you!!!

Marie V. (Amsterdam)

Lindsay really saw me and what I wanted to get out of the hypnosis. I felt understood, I felt guided and taken care of. During the hypnosis she was professional and very empathetic. For me, hypnosis had a lasting and liberating effect that has had a positive influence on my life as a whole.
